Comment Period Open For T.R. 280 Bridge Replacement
Chillicothe (Monday, November 16, 2015) – As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9’s Planning & Engineering Department, the district’s Environmental Office is seeking public input on the following bridge replacement project in Highland County.
HIG-TR280-0.28 (PID: 89140) – It is proposed to replace the structure over Little Rock Creek on Township Road 280 (Lewis Lane) in Liberty Township. The existing bridge is a single-span, steel beam bridge on concrete abutments, and it will be replaced with a 48’ x 11’ pre-cast arch topped culvert on capped pile foundations. The project also includes the replacement of two additional culverts and a temporary bridge. Approximately 0.585 acres of permanent right of way and 0.048 acres of temporary right of way will be required for construction. No homes or businesses will be removed as a result of the project; however, seven trees with habitat for the federally endangered Indiana bat or the federally threatened northern long-eared bat will be removed.
The project is currently expected to be awarded in the winter of 2017. Additional information regarding the proposed project, including a complete description, maps and plans sheets, is available online at http://www.dot.state.oh.us/districts/D09/Pages/Public-Involvement-Process.aspx. Issues the public may wish to comment on include the effect on local residents, air quality, the local economy, and historic or cultural resources.
