Construction Begins On S.R. 28, 135 In Highland County
Chillicothe (Monday, May 8, 2017) – Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be resurfacing a pair of routes in Highland County through the spring and summer months, with construction beginning this week.
Operations have begun for a resurfacing project on state routes 28 and 135, where crews from the Shelly Company will be paving S.R. 28 from the west corporation limit of Greenfield to the Ross County line, as well as S.R. 135 between its junction with U.S. Route 50 at Allensburg and S.R. 134 at Lynchburg.
Construction also includes a bridge replacement on S.R. 135, in which the route will be closed at the village of Lynchburg, between Texas Street and Glenavy Drive, for up to 75 days. The closure will go into effect on Monday, May 15, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 50 and S.R. 134.
The Shelly Company was awarded a contract for approximately $1.2 million to pave both routes and replace the bridge, and with the exception of the closure on S.R. 135 at Lynchburg, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers when crews are at work.
The project is scheduled to be completed by late summer.
