Construction Set To Begin For S.R. 776 Bridge Replacement
Contractors preparing for closure next week
Chillicothe (Monday, August 17, 2015) – Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation are preparing for a bridge replacement project on state Route 776 in Scioto County, with construction getting under way early next week.
Crews from DGM, Incorporated will be replacing a bridge located at the 0.19-mile marker on S.R. 776. The project site is situated between S.R. 335 and County Road 24 (White Gravel-Dewey Road), and construction includes replacing the existing single-span steel beam bridge that is over a tributary to McConnel Creek with a concrete box culvert and full-height headwalls and wingwalls.
Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, August 24, and the route will be closed to traffic during most of the project. While it is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of S.R. 335 in Pike County and S.R. 32 and S.R. 776 in Jackson County.
DGM, Inc. of Beaver, Ohio was awarded a contract for approximately $214,932 to replace the bridge, and weather permitting, all work should be completed by early November.
