Construction Set To Begin On S.R. 125
Dual bridge replacement project
gets under way next week
(Thursday, July 6, 2017) – Construction is set to begin on state
Route 125 in Scioto County, as contractors for the Ohio
Department of Transportation - District 9 will be replacing a pair of bridges
in Shawnee State Forest.
Monday, July 10, S.R. 125 will be closed between County Road 96 (Upper Twin
Road) and Township Road 99 (Mackletree Road), where crews from Native
Construction, LLC will be replacing two structures that lie within two miles of
the Scioto-Adams County line.
structures to be replaced are single-span slab bridges with concrete
substructure that were originally built in 1932, and both will be replaced
with precast, four-sided concrete box culverts. The project also includes the
addition of rock channel protection at the inlet and outlets of the culverts
and pavement work.
The closure is scheduled to be in
effect for up to 45 days, and while the route is closed, motorists
will be detoured via U.S. 52 and S.R. 247; a local detour for non-commercial
traffic will also be established by way of Macketree and Upper Twin roads.
was awarded a contract for $749,791 to complete the project, and all work is
anticipated to be completed by early September.

environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by
ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated
December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
