Construction Set To Begin On U.S. 68 in Brown County
Chillicothe (Monday, July 20, 2015) – Construction gets under way this week on U.S. Route 68 in Brown County, where contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be paving approximately 10 miles of roadway.
Crews from Brown County Asphalt will be paving U.S. 68 from just north of Hughes Boulevard at the northern corporation limit of Mt. Orab to its junction with U.S. 50 in Fayetteville. Although the contractors will start construction this week, maintenance crews are conducting additional repairs near the south end of the work zone, which are needed as a result of storm damage.
Motorists will encounter lane restrictions as traffic will be reduced to one lane and maintained by flaggers when crews are at work during daytime, business hours. ODOT reminds drivers of the need for additional caution when traveling through these and other work zones.
The Brown County Asphalt Company was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $1.40 million to resurface the route, and all work is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall.
