Construction Under Way For Lawrence-141 Culvert Replacement
Chillicothe (Friday, May 12, 2017) – Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be undertaking a culvert replacement on state Route 141 in Lawrence County during the coming weeks, and preliminary operations have already begun.
Crews from DGM, Incorporated will be replacing a culvert over Sugar Creek. The project site is located between County Road 52 (Sugar Creek-Johnstown Road) and C.R. 5 (Elkins Road) in the Kitts Hill area, and the existing cast-in-place concrete arch structure will be replaced with a 7X7-foot, precast concrete box culvert.
With site preparations beginning this week, traffic is being maintained by flaggers when crews are at work. However, the route will be closed for up to 30 days, and the closure is scheduled to go into effect on Tuesday, May 30. While the route is closed, thru-traffic will be detoured by way of U.S. 52, S.R. 243, S.R. 378 and S.R. 217.
DGM, Inc. was awarded a contract in the amount of $572,575 to complete the project, and all work is anticipated to be finished in mid to late summer.
