Construction Set To Begin On S.R. 247
Chillicothe - With the 2008 construction season getting under way, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will begin operations for a slip repair project on state Route 247.
According to ODOT District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart, crews from R.C. Construction Company will be repairing a slide along the left shoulder at the route’s 10.40-mile marker, approximately two miles north of West Union and south of County Road 10 (Unity Road).
“This year’s construction season is just getting started, so it is important that we remind motorists of the need for additional safety when they are traveling in work zones,” said Brushart. “Projects such as this are necessary to maintain the integrity of our routes and for the safety of the traveling public; therefore, we appreciate the patience of all motorists while construction is under way.”
Although an exact start date has yet to be established, the project is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of April 14. Throughout construction, the route will be reduced to one lane, and traffic will be maintained by temporary traffic signals.
R.C. Construction was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $207,987 in January, and the project is anticipated to be completed by June 30.
