Crews Patrolling, Treating Routes
Remember: Ice and Snow…Take it Slow!
Chillicothe (Wednesday, January 26, 2011 - 8:55 a.m.) – Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9 highway maintenance facilities have taken to the highways this morning as another winter storm makes its way through southern Ohio.
Some areas in the District 9 counties have been receiving light snow showers, and routes are still mostly clear and wet; however, some are lightly snow covered, and black ice may also be present.
Although the overall accumulation is expected to be low, crews will be working throughout the day to plow, treat and patrols routes as needed to keep the highways safe and passable. However, motorists need to exercise additional caution by reducing their speed and allowing additional travel time.
Motorists are also cautioned to pay heed to other drivers on the roadways, especially snowplow operators whose visibility is limited and who drive at speeds well below the posted limit.
