Overnight closures in effect next week
Chillicothe (Tuesday, December 1, 2015) – As part of the Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway construction project in Scioto County, contractors for the Portsmouth Gateway Group and the Ohio Department of Transportation will undertake a culvert installation project on state Route 139 next week.
Beginning Monday, December 7, and continuing throughout the week, S.R. 139 will be immediately west of Township Road 516 (Oliver Road) during the overnight hours for crews from the Portsmouth Joint Venture (PJV) to install a 68X106-inch elliptical culvert.
The daily nighttime closures will be in effect from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday, with the route open to daytime travel. During periods of closure, traffic will be detoured via High Street at Minford, C.R. 28 (Lucasville-Minford Road) and C.R. 549 (Glendale Road).
Motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution throughout the corridor, where crews and heavy equipment are moving in and out of the work zone.

In the spirit of a public-private partnership, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Portsmouth Gateway Group are constructing the new state Route 823, a 16-mile, four-lane, limited access highway from U.S. 23 at Lucasville to U.S. 52 at Sciotoville in Scioto County. The Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway is the department’s first P3 project and the largest, modern earthwork project to be constructed in the state’s history.
