Culvert Projects Slated For
Chillicothe- Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation Highland County Highway Maintenance Facility are preparing for a series of culvert replacement projects on state Route 247 in the coming week.
According to Transportation Administrator Dan Nartker, there are six deteriorated culverts situated between the corporation limit of Hillsboro and the Highland-Adams County line near Township Road 170A (Crooked Road) which need to be replaced.
The culverts to be replaced are located at the 0.72 and 0.99-mile markers, just south of state Route 785 at Fairfax; the 6.5-mile marker near Township Road 232A (Buckley Road); the 8.13-mile marker, near Township Road 236A (Mt. Washington Road); and the 9.81 and 9.94-mile markers, near Township Road 269A (Patton Road).
The project is tentatively scheduled to begin Thursday or Friday, April 3 or 4, and continue through the following week, with crews working between approximately 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day that a project is under way. As completion of each culvert replacement will be contingent upon the weather, the schedule for daily operations is subject to change.
While crews are at work, the route will be open to one lane of traffic, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Motorists are reminded to exercise additional caution when traveling in the work zone.
