Deck Replacement Project On Tap
Scioto-348 Restrictions Next Week
Chillicothe (Saturday, March 15, 2014) -- Preliminary operations are under way for a deck replacement project on state Route 348 in Scioto County, and contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will mobilize crews early next week.
On Monday and Tuesday, March 17 and 18, crews from Shelly and Sands will be widening a portion of S.R. 348 at the S.R. 104 intersection in preparation for the project to replace the deck on the Scioto River bridge, which is located immediately east of the S.R. 348/104 intersection at Lucasville. Lane restrictions will be in place from approximately 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers and law enforcement officers; completion of this phase of the project will be contingent upon the weather.
The entire project calls for rehabilitating the four-span structure by replacing the deck, approach slabs and roadway approaches. Throughout most construction, S.R. 348 will be reduced to one lane, and traffic will be maintained with traffic signals.
Currently, the traffic signals are anticipated to be in operation by mid-April. Prior to the single-lane restriction and the start of major construction, however, crews will be setting lane assignments and establishing the maintenance of traffic plan that will convey motorists through the work zone. During these initial operations, traffic will be maintained by flaggers as needed.
