Detour Now Established For U.S. 35 Closure
Chillicothe (Wednesday, February 10, 4:15 a.m.) - Eastbound U.S. Route 35 is closed approximately six miles east of the Jackson-Ross County line due to a rock slide, and a detour has been established.
The eastbound (only) lanes of the route are closed between the 6.0 and 7.0-mile markers near Caves Road, west of Jackson, where a rock slide has occurred.
Traffic is now being detoured via U.S. 35 to Chillicothe, U.S. 23 South to Piketon, and S.R. 32 East to Jackson.
Although crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation's Jackson County facility will be working to restore the route as soon as possible, it is not known how long the closure and detour will be in place due to the scope of the project to clear the route.
Westbound U.S. 35 will not be affected by this closure.
