Biennial STIP Meetings Scheduled
ODOT seeking input on future transportation needs
Chillicothe (Monday, March 23, 2015) – Are you interested in learning more about proposed projects that may affect the transportation system in your area? If so, the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9 will host a series of meetings during the next two weeks, as the public review and comment period for the 2016-2019 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) gets under way.
Identifying maintenance and capacity needs for highways and other transportation-related projects, the STIP is a biennially updated list of transportation improvement projects that are under consideration for some phase of implementation by the department during the next four years. During the public review and comment period from March 30 to April 10, the draft STIP will be available at locations across the state, and ODOT officials will conduct regional open houses for members of the general public to review and learn more about the STIP in their area.
In District 9, these meetings will be held on the following dates and at these locations:

New to this year’s STIP roll out in District 9 will be the participation of the Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission (OVRDC), which will join ODOT - District 9 at each of its regional meetings to receive public comments for its draft Long Range Transportation Plan. In addition, representatives from KYOVA, District 9’s Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) which serves parts of Lawrence County, will be on hand to discuss and share information regarding efforts in the tri-state area.
