District 9 Crews Continue Patrols, Treating Routes
Chillicothe (Wednesday, January 20, 2016 - 9:30 a.m.) – Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation - District 9 crews continue their efforts this morning to treat the state highway system for snow and ice.
More than 100 snowplow operators are working throughout the eight-county region, with crews reporting varying conditions from partly snow covered to wet and slushy. Although the total snow accumulation across the district has been light so far, periodic snow showers is covering roadways, and pavement that has been cleared will re-cover quickly.
District 9 crews will continue patrolling, plowing and treating the state highway system as needed throughout the storm, but any wet or snow-covered pavement could be icy and slick, and motorists need to use additional caution.
Drivers are reminded to reduce their speed, maintain a safe following distance and allow additional travel time. They are also reminded to give snowplow drivers room to work, as they drive at reduced speeds and their field of vision is limited.
ODOT District 9 includes Adams, Brown, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross and Scioto counties. For statewide road condition information, visit www.Ohgo.com, and remember: Ice and snow, take it slow!
