District 9 Crews Continue Efforts
Motorists Advised: “Ice and snow…take it slow!”
Chillicothe – While Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 crews continue to patrol and treat the state highway system today for snow and ice conditions, motorists are advised to exercise additional caution.
In Adams, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike and Scioto counties, pavement conditions are icy, slushy and mostly snow covered; in Brown and Highland counties pavement conditions are wet, and in Ross County, pavement varies from wet and slick to lightly snow covered. Currently, the area is receiving a mix of light snow and freezing rain, with heavier precipitation in the southern and eastern part of the district.
As always, motorists are reminded to exercise additional caution when traveling over bridges and overpasses where pavement temperatures are colder and the surface is more likely to freeze. In addition, they are reminded that patches of black ice may form instantly on slick spots or wet pavement.
