District 9 Crews Patrolling, Treating Routes
Motorists Advised: "Ice and snow...take it slow!"
Chillicothe –Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 crews are patrolling and treating routes as needed throughout the district this morning for snow and ice conditions.
Currently, pavement conditions vary from clear and dry in northern and western Ross County to wet, slick and partly snow covered elsewhere in the district, including Jackson, Lawrence, Pike and Scioto counties where up to two inches of snow is reported at some locations.
As always, motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution and to be especially cautious when traveling over bridges and overpasses where pavement is colder and prone to freezing. In addition, they are reminded that patches of black ice may form instantly on slick spots or wet pavement.
Those who will be traveling throughout this or any winter storm event should reduce their speed, allow additional time to arrive at their destinations and maintain a safe following distance when traveling behind other vehicles.
