Districts 6 & 9 Partnering For Pickaway County Construction Projects
Bridge replacement project set to begin on S.R. 104
Chillicothe (Tuesday, June 7, 2016) – Following preliminary operations this spring, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation are set to begin construction for a bridge and culvert replacement project on state Route 104 in Pickaway County.
Due to a heavy construction program in ODOT District 6, which includes Pickaway County, District 9’s construction department is partnering with District 6 to administer three Pickaway County projects on behalf of the district. These projects include a resurfacing and bridge repair on S.R. 56 and U.S. 22 that is already under way, a bridge replacement on S.R. 138 that is likely to begin in mid-summer, and a series of bridge replacements on S.R. 104 that will require closure of the route beginning next week.
On Monday, June 13, S.R. 104 will be closed approximately three miles north of the Ross County line for a bridge replacement project. The project includes installing a culvert liner at the route’s 2.95-mile marker, between Township Road 104 (Dungan Road) and T.R. 101 (Hickory Bend Road), as well as replacing bridges at the 3.45 and the 3.83-mile markers, between Hickory Bend and T.R. 103 (Sisk Road).
With traffic being maintained by flaggers at the project site south of Hickory Bend, S.R. 104 will be closed for up to 45 days between Hickory Bend and Sisk roads, and while it is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of U.S. 22, U.S. 23 and S.R. 207.
Foill Incorporated was awarded a contract in the amount of $1.39 million to undertake the project, and all work is anticipated to be completed in late summer.
