Dual Bridge Replacement Slated For Adams-348
Route To Be Closed Next Week
Chillicothe (Wednesday, February 23, 2011) - Operations for a pair of bridge replacement projects are set to begin next week on state Route 348 in Adams County, according to Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 Deputy Director Vaughn E. Wilson, and the route will be closed for up to six months.
“With spring just around the corner, our 2011 construction season will be getting under way soon, and this is one of several projects that will take place to improve and enhance Adams County’s infrastructure,” said Wilson.
Weather permitting, contractors for the department will close Ohio-348 on Monday, February 28, at the route’s 4.81-mile marker to begin the first bridge replacement project. The project site is situated west of County Road 6 (Cedar Mills Road), near Cedar Hill Drive, and work is anticipated to be completed within 90 days.
Once this project is completed, S.R. 348 will remain closed, and the contractors will move operations one-tenth mile east to replace a second structure that is located at the 4.94-mile marker. Replacement of this bridge, which is located immediately east of the route’s junction with Cedar Mills Road, is also scheduled to take 90 days to complete.
During the route’s closure for both projects, motorists will be detoured by way of S.R. 125 and County Road 18 (Blue Creek Road).
DGM Incorporated, of Beaver, Ohio, was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $1.29 million to complete all work, and the scheduled completion date is September 30, 2011.
