Emergency Contract Moves Repair Work Ahead
Contractor To Begin Work On Jackson-327
Chillicothe (Wednesday, August 05, 2015) – Working to expedite an emergency repair project on state Route 327 in Jackson County, officials from the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9 have announced that construction is ready to begin.
S.R. 327 was closed at the northern corporation limit of Wellston on Tuesday, July 14, after heavy storms caused extreme flooding and left behind significant damage to the pavement and culvert located just north of the entrance to Golden Rocket Drive.
According to ODOT District 9 Deputy Director Vaughn Wilson, a Type A emergency contract has been awarded to the Complete General Construction Company to begin restoration efforts on S.R. 327. With utility coordination under way and contractors mobilizing crews and equipment this week, construction is scheduled to begin Monday, August 10.
“Staff from our planning and engineering, construction and highway management departments have been working with the city of Wellston to move a project forward, and the Type A emergency contract will allow construction to begin immediately so that we can restore the routes to traffic as quickly as possible,” said Wilson.
It is anticipated that the project will be completed in late August or early September, and while S.R. 327 remains closed, motorists will continue to be detoured via S.R. 93, S.R. 683 and U.S. 50.
