Emergency Contract Moving Brown-32 Culvert Project Forward
Contractor scheduled to begin work next week
Chillicothe (Thursday, September 1, 2016) – Officials from the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9 will expedite an emergency repair project on state Route 32 in Brown County, with construction scheduled to start early next week.
Following bouts of heavy storms and flash flooding that have hit the area in recent weeks, a culvert that is located under S.R. 32 at the 0.1-mile marker, immediately east of the Brown-Clermont County line, has become severely compromised. As such, staff from District 9’s planning and engineering and highway management departments have been working to move a Type A emergency contract forward so that construction can begin immediately.
On Tuesday, September 6, crews from the John R. Jurgensen Company will mobilize crews and begin construction, reducing the route to one lane in each direction. Throughout the project, bi-directional traffic will be maintained in either the west or the eastbound lanes, with traffic diverted by way of a crossover.
Although a timeline to complete the project has yet to be determined, construction could take two to three months to complete.
