Culvert Project Scheduled For Jackson-279
Route To Be Closed Tuesday
Chillicothe (Thursday, May 1, 2014) – Due
to a washout that comprised the extension of a drainage pipe on state Route
279 near Oak Hill, crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Jackson
County Highway Maintenance Facility will undertake an emergency culvert
replacement project next week.
On Tuesday, May 6, crews will
close S.R. 279 between C.R. 56 (McCorkle Road) and C.R. 66 (Jim Reese Road),
approximately one-half mile west of Oak Hill. The closure will go into effect
between 8:30 and 9 a.m. Tuesday and continue until early afternoon Wednesday,
Although crews have
completed temporary repairs to the drainage extension in order to keep the
route open to traffic, a full culvert replacement is needed to preserve the
integrity of the pavement.
While the route is closed
next week, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 93, S.R. 32 and S.R. 139.
