Frankfort Sidewalk Project To Begin Next Month
Construction Will Include Sidewalks, Foot Bridge
Chillicothe (Tuesday, June 30, 2015) – As part of the national Safe Routes to School program, the second phase of a sidewalk construction project in Frankfort will get under way next month.
Crews from BUDS, Incorporated will be constructing sidewalks along Porter Avenue, East High Street and North Main Street, as well as a pedestrian bridge over Old Town Run on Main Street. This is the second part of a two-phase project to construct shared-use paths for the Adena School District and the village of Frankfort.
Aimed at elementary and middle schools, ODOT’s Safe Routes to School program assists communities in developing and implementing projects and programs that encourage and enable children in kindergarten through eighth grade, including those with disabilities, to walk or bike to school safely.
“In order to encourage walking and bicycling to school, there needs to be safe, viable options for children, and projects such as this help our communities provide these options,” said District 9 Deputy Director Vaughn Wilson.
BUDS, Inc. was awarded a contract in May for approximately $297,083, and throughout construction, there should be little to no impact to motorists. Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, July 20, and all work should be completed in early fall.
