Freezing Rain, Rain Expected Tonight
District 9 Crews Ready For Another Round
Chillicothe (Thursday, January 9, 2014 – 4:45 p.m.) – With a varying mix of precipitation predicted tonight, crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9 highway maintenance facilities will be staying on to patrol and treat as needed.
Currently, weather forecasts for the area call for a mix of rain, freezing rain and light snow to occur intermittently throughout the evening and overnight hours. Accumulations are anticipated to be light; however, the type of precipitation is likely to change or fluctuate depending upon the temperature.
While snowplow operators are ready to hit the highways, motorists are reminded to exercise additional caution. Roadways will be slick, and black ice may be present or apt to form quickly. Motorists are also reminded of the need for additional caution when traveling over bridges and overpasses where surface temperatures are colder and prone to freezing more quickly than pavement.
ODOT District 9 includes Adams, Brown, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross and Scioto counties.
