Grant Bridge Inspections Delayed Due To Weather
Chillicothe - Inspections for the U.S. Grant Bridge have been rescheduled for Friday, March 27, weather permitting.
Originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, the load testing inspection was postponed twice this week due to inclement weather. Crews from the University of Cincinnati Infrastructure Institute are now planning to perform the tests tomorrow.
While the load testing is under way, the bridge will be closed to all traffic, from approximately 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Traffic from the U.S. Grant Bridge will be detoured by way of U.S. 52 and the Carl Perkins Bridge, west of Portsmouth.
UCII’s inspectors will be measuring truck loads to assess and confirm the load rating analysis for the bridge. Along with other regularly scheduled inspections, these tests are part of the department’s maintenance and research program for major structures maintained by the Ohio Department of Transportation.
