Grant Bridge Inspections Rescheduled
Chillicothe - With tomorrow’s forecast calling for inclement weather, inspections at the U.S. Grant Bridge in Scioto County have been postponed.
The bridge was scheduled to be closed Wednesday, March 25, in order for crews from the University of Cincinnati Infrastructure Institute to perform load testing on the bridge. Due to the possibility of rain, the inspections have been postponed until Thursday, March 26; in the event that inclement weather prohibits the inspections from taking place on Thursday, the crews will perform the inspections on Friday, March 27.
UCII’s team of inspectors from UCII will be measuring truck loads to assess and confirm the load rating analysis for the bridge. Along with other regularly scheduled inspections, these tests are part of the department’s maintenance and research program for major structures maintained by ODOT.
While the load testing is under way, the bridge will be closed to all traffic, from approximately 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Traffic from the U.S. Grant Bridge will be detoured by way of U.S. 52 and the Carl Perkins Bridge, west of Portsmouth.
