Highland-134 To Undergo Resurfacing
Chillicothe - Preparations will get under way this week for a two-lane resurfacing project on state Route 134 in southwestern Highland County.
According to Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart, contractors for the department are scheduled tentatively to begin preliminary site preparations later this week, with paving operations beginning the following week.
“Resurfacing projects such as this are important for the preservation of a given route, as well as for the safety of the traveling public, so we appreciate motorists’ patience as construction gets under way,” said Brushart.
The 5.25-mile project extends from the Brown County line near Sardinia to one-half mile north of state Route 138 at Buford and includes making necessary repairs to the route and overlaying the pavement with asphalt.
The Shelly Company of Thornville, Ohio, was awarded a contract in the amount of $597,358 to complete the resurfacing project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane in each direction, and the project is scheduled to be completed by October 31, 2008.
