Hobart Road Reopening To Two-Way Traffic
Chillicothe (Friday, October 16, 2015) – Hobart Road will again be open to two-way traffic, as contractors for the Hobart Road/Carl Smith Drive extension project in Highland County continue working at a rapid pace.
Currently, crews from the John R. Jurgensen Company are reconstructing and widening Hobart Road and U.S. Route 62, adding turn lanes and a traffic signal at the intersection. With a portion of the reconstruction nearly completed on Hobart Road, they are now able to move traffic in both directions, and Hobart Road will be open to eastbound motorists by mid-morning today, October 16.
Along with the restrictions on Hobart Road, U.S. 62 traffic has been shifted to two, 10-foot lanes at the intersection with Hobart Road. Although both Hobart Road and U.S. 62 will be open to two-way traffic through the remainder of construction, traffic will be maintained on temporary and existing pavement, and motorists are reminded to use additional caution.
In partnership with the Highland County Engineer’s Office, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) awarded a contract to the John R. Jurgensen Company of Cincinnati for approximately $6.9 million to improve Hobart Road and construct the 1.2-mile extension between U.S. 62 and state Route 73. With an interim completion this fall, all work is scheduled to be completed by summer 2016.
