To Complete Decking On Ironton-Russell Bridge
construction work to require short-term closure
Chillicothe (Wednesday, September 6, 2017) –
As part of ongoing construction for the new
Ironton-Russell Bridge, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation
will complete finishing work, requiring closure of the structure this week.
Crews from Brayman Construction
Corporation will close the bridge for up to 36 hours to
complete remaining deck work and sign installation as part of the total
construction project for the new bridge.
The closure is necessary in order to facilitate the application
of materials for decking, as well as to accommodate the equipment used for
sign installation on the south (Kentucky) tower.
The 36-hour closure will go into effect at midnight
Thursday, September 7, and continue until noon Saturday, September 9. While
the structure is closed, motorists will be detoured via the Ashland, Ky.,
twin bridges and U.S. 52 at Coal Grove.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by
applicable federal environmental laws for these projects are being, or have
been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of
Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
