Ironton-Russell Demo Meeting On Tap This Week
Contractors To Explain Blasting Operations
Chillicothe (Monday, May 8, 2017) – A public meeting will be held this week to discuss blasting operations for the demolition of the former Ironton-Russell Bridge.
Representatives from Brayman Construction Corporation, Advantage Blasting & Demolition and the Ohio Department of Transportation will hold an open-house meeting to discuss blasting operations that will take place during the next phase of the project to remove the former structure.
The meeting has been scheduled to outline operations and answer questions for residents and property owners who are adjacent to the primary blasting area, which is a 1,000-foot radius from the blasting sites. Chiefly, this zone extends from Campbell Avenue and 2nd Street to Adams and Center streets in Ironton and from Amanda Street to Ferry Street and from Riverside Drive to Bellefonte/Cedar Alley in Russell.
The meeting will be held Wednesday, May 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Bowman Auditorium at Ohio University – Southern, located at 1804 Liberty Avenue in Ironton.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for these projects are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
