IRBR: Campbell Avenue Set To Reopen;
Third Street Slated For Temporary Closure
Chillicothe (Tuesday, March 5, 2013) – Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will reopen one street and impart additional restrictions on another in downtown Ironton early next week.
As part of the Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement project, crews from Brayman Construction Corporation are installing storm sewer and water line systems, as well as reconstructing pavement in the area of the Ohio approach for the new bridge.
Currently, crews are scheduled to reopen Campbell Avenue on March 11, while closing Third Street between Madison and Adams streets. In addition, Jefferson Street will remain closed temporarily between Second and Third streets for pavement reconstruction; however, an additional portion of Jefferson will also be closed between Second Street and Campbell Avenue for storm sewer work.
The closure of these segments on Third and Jefferson streets are scheduled to be in effect for 45 days, and while they are closed, motorists will be detoured locally through downtown. Pedestrians will have access to businesses; however, sidewalk closures will be necessary at various times for reconstruction.
Brayman Construction Corporation of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, is building a new Ohio River crossing between Ironton, Ohio, and Russell, Kentucky. The project, which began in March 2012, is set for an interim completion of Fall 2015.
