Improvement Project Gets Under Way On Brown-41
Major Reconstruction Work Scheduled To Start Next Month
Chillicothe (Saturday, March 18, 2017) – As the 2017 construction season gets under way throughout the state, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation are preparing for a safety improvement project on state Route 41 in Brown County.
During this year’s construction program in ODOT District 9, crews from John R. Jurgensen will be undertaking a realignment project at the route’s junction with S.R. 763, approximately 1.5 miles north of Aberdeen.
The project includes reconstructing the alignment of S.R. 41 with a spiral curve, realigning the intersection with S.R. 763 to improve its width, correcting the horizontal and vertical deficiencies, and removing the intersection of Township Road 563 (Slickaway Road). The project also includes geo-technical work to improve the hillside slope.
Preliminary operations have already begun with clearing and prepping the project area as weather permits, and now the contractors are on schedule to start major roadway work, closing S.R. 41 on Monday, April 3. The closure will be in effect for approximately 160 days, and while the intersection is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of U.S. 52, S.R. 136 and S.R. 125 in Adams County.
The John R. Jurgensen Company of Cincinnati was awarded a contract for $2,446,346 to complete the project, and all work is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall of this year.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
