Improvement Project Set For Lawrence-243
Culvert replacement, realignment slated to begin next month
Chillicothe (Thursday, May 21, 2015) – Construction will begin early next month on state Route 243 in Lawrence County as contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation undertake a culvert replacement and realignment project at the route’s 17.83-mile marker.
On Monday, June 1, crews from BUDS Incorporated will start construction to replace and relocate a 60-inch corrugated metal pipe that is situated between S.R. 7 and County Road 2 (Greasy Ridge Road) at Bradrick. In addition, to realigning the angle of the culvert, the project includes upgrading approximately 528 feet of the roadway to 10-foot lanes with wider, graded shoulders.
During construction, S.R. 243 will be subject to a 60-day closure, and while it is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 378, S.R. 217, S.R. 775 and S.R. 7.
BUDS, Inc. was awarded a contract for approximately $742,185 to undertake the project, and all work is anticipated to be completed in late summer.
