Intermittent Closures Slated For Ross-50 Bridge Project
Route To Be Closed Periodically Monday Through Wednesday
Chillicothe (Friday, April 20, 2012) – As part of an ongoing bridge replacement on U.S. 50 near Londonderry, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will impart additional traffic restrictions in the construction zone next week.
On Monday, April 23, crews from Shelly and Sands Construction will close U.S. 50 temporarily while they offload and position a crane that will be used for beam setting. A specific time for this operation has yet to be determined; however, this will be a short-term, non-continuous closure.
Then on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 24 and 25, the contractors will close the route at various intervals throughout either day to set I-beams for the bridge’s center span. The intermittent periods of closure on these days are scheduled to be in effect during business hours, and the duration of each closure is anticipated to be between 15 and 20 minutes.
Shelly and Sands Construction is replacing a bridge located at the 36.79-mile marker, between County Road 207 (Vigo Road) and Township Road 219 (Dixon Mill Road) and just west of the Vinton County line.
Currently, traffic is being maintained in one, 12-foot lane with the use of temporary signals, and the scheduled completion date for the entire project is September 30, 2012.
