Intersection Improvement Project Set To Begin
Turn lanes to be installed on Ohio-104/348 in Scioto County
Chillicothe (Thursday, April 27, 2017) – As one of the many safety enhancement projects to be constructed on Ohio’s roadways this year, an intersection improvement project will get under way next week on state routes 104 and 348 in Scioto County.
On Monday, May 1, construction will begin on S.R. 104 and S.R. 348, where crews from the Shelly Company will be constructing left-turn lanes on both routes at their intersection west of Lucasville.
The project also includes constructing a right-turn lane from S.R. 348 to S.R. 104, a new traffic signal at the intersection and additional paving work on S.R. 348, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 11-foot lane with the use of temporary signals.
The Shelly Company was awarded a contract for approximately $1.25 million to undertake the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer.
In a separate project on S.R. 348, crews from Strawser, Inc. will be paving the route from Township Road 120 (Pleasant Hill Road) to U.S. 23. The project also includes paving S.R. 728 from its junction with U.S. 23 to its end at County Road 28 (Lucasville-Minford Road).
During construction, traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work, and all work is scheduled to be completed in early summer.
Strawser was awarded a contract for $1.14 million to pave both S.R. 348 and S.R. 728.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
