Intersection Project Slated At Second Street In Ripley
Chillicothe - An intersection improvement project is set to begin at Second Street and U.S. Route 52 in Brown County, with lane restrictions going into effect this week.
Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be relocating the intersection of U.S. 52 and Second Street in the village of Ripley by shifting the alignment of Second Street to form a “T” intersection with U.S. 52. Construction also calls for the installation of a 72-inch culvert connecting the bridge located at the 11.85-mile marker on U.S. 52 to the arch culvert located on Second Street, as well as improving the radius of the turn from Second Street to Rankin Hill Road.
“This construction project will improve the sight distance for motorists traveling from Second Street to U.S. 52, thereby improving the overall safety of the routes’ junction,” said ODOT District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart.
Crews are scheduled to begin construction during the week of June 9, with operations getting under way by mid-week. Throughout the project, traffic will be maintained in at least one lane and with the use of flaggers as needed.
Ford Development, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was awarded a contract in the amount of $147,939 to upgrade the intersection, and the scheduled completion date for all work is July 31, 2008.
