Chillicothe - State Route 279 in Jackson County is closed for an emergency culvert replacement project.
The route has been closed at the 9.86-mile marker near County Road 4 (Cozy Glenn Road), approximately two miles west of Oak Hill. Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation Jackson County Highway Maintenance Facility will be working today, May 30, to replace the deteriorated culvert and repair the damaged roadway.
While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via state Route 93 at Oak Hill to state Route 32 at Jackson to state Route 139. Although state Route 279 will remain closed until all work is completed, it is expected that the route will be restored to traffic by 5 p.m. today.
