Jackson-327 Now Open Following Emergency Repairs
Chillicothe (Friday, September 18, 2015) – Two months after severe storms ripped through the area and forced the closure of state Route 327 in Jackson County, officials from the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9 are pleased to announce that the route is now open to traffic.
S.R. 327 was closed at the northern corporation limit of Wellston on Tuesday, July 14, after heavy storms caused extreme flooding and left behind significant damage to the pavement and washed out the culvert located just north of the entrance to Golden Rocket Drive.
Working with the city of Wellston, staff from ODOT District 9's planning and engineering, construction and highway management departments were able to expedite a project and move forward with a Type A emergency contract, allowing crews from Complete General Construction to start work immediately.
“The damage that was caused by the storms in July was quite extensive and required a joint effort between ODOT and the city of Wellston to expedite a project,” said ODOT District 9 Deputy Director Vaughn Wilson. “I commend the efforts of those involved to work as quickly as they did to restore the route to traffic.”
Following a tight, six week schedule, crews from Complete General Construction completed operations today and reopened S.R. 327 shortly before 7:30 p.m.
