Jackson-327 Closed Due To Washout, Collapsed Pavement
Chillicothe (Thursday, June 3, 2010) – Heavy rains during the overnight hours have washed out a section of state Route 327 in northern Jackson County, forcing the route’s closure today.
State Route 327 is closed between Township Road 207 (Woodrow Hale Road) and T.R. 206 (Ray Road), just south of the Jackson-Vinton County line, where the northbound lane has collapsed and the southbound lane has been significantly undermined.
Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation Jackson County Highway Maintenance Facility will be working today and tomorrow, June 3 and 4, to repair the damaged area and repave the route. However, completion of the project will be contingent upon any additional, unforeseen repairs that may need to be made and any inclement weather.
While the route remains closed until further notice, traffic is being detoured via state Route 93 at Wellston and U.S. 50 through Vinton County. Motorists are also advised to be cautious of areas of standing or high water on all routes, and they are reminded that crossing any route which has been closed due to flooding or other maintenance or construction issues is prohibited.
