Resurfacing Project Set To Begin On Jackson-35
Chillicothe - Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 are preparing to start a minor rehabilitation project on U.S. Route 35 in Jackson County, and lane restrictions are set to go into effect this week.
“This is one of four very important construction projects taking place on the state highway system in Jackson County this year, and rehabilitation projects such as this do much to maintain and preserve the integrity of the route,” said ODOT District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart.
Later this week, crews from Shelly and Sands Incorporated are tentatively scheduled to begin working along U.S. Route 35, where the route will be reduced to one lane in each direction between the 8.35 and the 13.23-mile markers. The construction zone is located between County Road 71 (Lloyds Bridge Road) and state Route 32 near Jackson.
Shelly and Sands, of Zanesville, Ohio, was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $3.58 million to resurface U.S. 35, and throughout construction traffic will be maintained in at least one lane in each direction. The completion date for the project is October 31, 2008.
