Jackson County Routes Slated For Resurfacing
S.R. 93, 788 Projects To Get Under Way This Month
Chillicothe - Construction on will get under way soon in Jackson County as contractors prepare for a resurfacing project on two different routes.
According to Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart, crews from Shelly and Sands have scheduled to begin paving an 1.4-mile section of S.R. 93 this month, as well as approximately 5.8 miles of S.R. 788
“This project is part of the more than $16 million construction season we have taking place this year in Jackson County to repair and rehabilitate the state’s infrastructure,” said Brushart. “Projects such as this are necessary for the safety of the traveling public and the preservation of our routes; however, they also help to retain jobs and spur economies.”
Contractors will first be paving S.R. 93 from just east of County Road 35 (Glen Roy Road) to the western corporation limit of Wellston. Crews will then move to S.R. 788, where they will be resurfacing the route from the northern corporation limit of Jackson to S.R. 93 at Wellston.
Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of August 17 on Jackson-93, and throughout construction, traffic on all routes will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers when crews are at work.
Shelly and Sands Incorporated of Zanesville, Ohio, was awarded a contract in the amount of $841,888 million to pave both routes, and all work is scheduled to be completed by October 31, 2009.
