Lawrence-7 Beam Installation Postponed
Overnight Closures Will Be Rescheduled As Weather Permits
Chillicothe (Monday, February 02, 2015) – Due to rain and high water, the project to install beams for the bridge replacement on state Route 7 in Lawrence County has been postponed, and the route will not be closed tonight.
Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation had scheduled to set I-beams for the new bridge this week, closing the route to traffic during the overnight hours tonight and tomorrow night, February 2 and 3. However, flooding at the causeway below the bridge is limiting their access to the structure.
Although a date to set the beams has not been established, it is possible that the project will take place later in the week; however, this will be contingent upon the weather and any high water. When it is rescheduled, though, the route will be closed from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., and motorists will be detoured via S.R. 775, S.R. 217 and S.R. 243.
Currently, S.R. 7 is reduced to one lane at the Indian Guyan Creek bridge, west of Proctorville, where crews from Complete General Construction are replacing and widening the existing three-span continuous steel girder structure with a pre-stressed, reinforced concrete deck and substructure. During construction, traffic is being maintained in one lane with the use of temporary traffic signals.
