Schedule Change For Pike-23 Closures
Columbus (Monday, October 29, 2012) – Due to inclement weather this week, tomorrow’s planned move of a condenser from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Portsmouth site at Piketon has been postponed.
U.S. Route 23 North was scheduled for temporary closure at the off-ramp to the DOE Facility on Tuesday, October 30, for crews to transport a condenser to the entrance of Columbus Equipment, which is just south of the interchange.
With heavy rain and high winds in the forecast, the operation has been postponed until at least Thursday, November 1; however, this date is subject to change as well due to the weather.
This will be the eighth move in a series of equipment moves from the facility. Subsequent moves are also scheduled to take place on Wednesday, November 7, and Wednesday, November 14. All moves are to be conducted between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day, and U.S. 23 northbound motorists should expect delays of 10 to 15 minutes between these hours.
