Chillicothe (Tuesday, July 08, 2014) –
With one culvert replacement project already under way on state Route 180,
crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Ross County Highway
Maintenance Facility will be replacing an additional five pipes in order to
prep the route for resurfacing.
Currently, S.R. 180 is reduced to one lane at the route’s intersection with
Township Road 270 (Spencer Road) for a culvert replacement project, and
Spencer Road is closed at its south junction with S.R. 180. Then, beginning
tomorrow and continuing through Thursday, July 9-10, S.R. 180 will be reduced
to one lane at its junction with County Road 273 (Walnut Creek Road) for a
second culvert replacement.
The project site is located
just west of the community of Hallsville, and throughout both days, S.R. 180
will be open, and traffic will be maintained in one lane while crews are at
work. However, Walnut Creek Road will be closed at its junction with S.R.
180, with motorists being detoured via County Road 235 (Marietta Road).
Next week, on July 14 and
15, S.R. 180 will be closed at the 3.81-mile marker, which is between C.R.
223 (Dry Run Road) and T.R. 249B (Ross Road), and while the route is closed,
motorists will be detoured via S.R. 159, and S.R. 56 and S.R. 327.
The additional culvert
replacement projects will be scheduled later this month and early August as
weather permits, and resurfacing will follow once all culvert work has been
