Meeting Set To Discuss Jackson-327 Blasting Operations
Chillicothe (Wednesday, January 28, 2015) – A public meeting will be held next month to address operations for an excavation and rock removal project that is scheduled to begin on state Route 327 in Jackson County.
Representatives from the Ohio Department of Transportation and their contractors, DGM Incorporated, will hold an open-house meeting Wednesday, February 18, to discuss blasting operations that will take place as part of the project. The meeting will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. in the construction field office, which is located near the project site at 19334 S.R. 327, Wellston.
The work zone for the project is situated between Township Road 207 (Woodrow Hale Road) and T.R. 804 (Ray Cemetery Road), approximately two miles south of the Jackson-Vinton County line, and crews will be removing the rock and constructing benches along the east hillside of the route.
Construction is set to begin in early March; however, a specific start date has yet to be established. Once the project gets under way, though, the route will be subject to a 60-day closure, and during this time, traffic will be detoured by way of U.S. 50, S.R. 683 and S.R. 93.
DGM, Inc. was awarded a contract for approximately $648,000 to recut and repair the slide area, and all work is anticipated to be completed in late spring.
