New Harmony Lodge Pitches In With Litter Pick Up
Chillicothe - As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Adopt-A-Highway program, members of the New Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 435 have pitched in to assist the department with roadway beautification in Brown County.
On September 18, six people participated in the pick up, collecting 16 bags of litter along state Route 32. The group has been a part of the program since 1992, and those picking up litter in this outing included Gerald Amiott, Barry Amiott, Duane Smith, Gary Frye, Jim Bingamon and Kevin Clark.
“We appreciate the efforts of the New Harmony Masonic Lodge,” said District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart. “While helping us promote highway beautification, they are also helping the maintenance crews from the Brown County facility maintain a clean highway.”
For those who join the Adopt-A-Highway program, ODOT will provide groups with trash bags and safety vests at no cost, and the department posts a sign, inscribed with the group’s name, within the adopted section of highway.
Any group that is interested in becoming involved with the Adopt-A-Highway program in Brown County should contact ODOT’s Brown County Highway Maintenance Facility by calling 937-378-6709.
