New Harmony Masons Help Out With Recent
Litter Pick Up
– The Ohio Department of Transportation is pleased to recognize members of the New Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 435 for their efforts with District 9’s Adopt-A-Highway program.
“We wish to applaud the New Harmony Masons on their commitment to the Adopt-A-Highway program and all their assistance to promote roadway beautification and help our county crews maintain a clean highway system,” said District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart.
In their first outing this year, eight members of the organization collected 23 bags of litter along a two-mile stretch of state Route 32 in Brown County. On July 7 James Bingaman, Rick Colwell, Frank Clifton, Duane Smith, Bobby Bingaman, Robert Downs Jr., Steve Shoemaker Jr., and Gerald Amiott joined in the local clean-up effort.
While the New Harmony Masonic Lodge has been active since 1992, Ohio’s Adopt-A-Highway program is now in its 20th year. For those groups participating in Adopt-A-Highway, ODOT will provide volunteers with trash bags and safety vests at no cost, and the department will post a sign inscribed with the group's name within the adopted section of highway.
Any group interested in becoming part of the Adopt-A-Highway program in Brown County should contact ODOT's highway maintenance facility by calling 937-378-6709.
