ODOT Crews Continue Early Morning Patrols
Chillicothe (Wednesday, December 26, 2012 – 6:00 a.m.) – Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation - District 9 continue patrolling the state highway system this morning for possible snow and ice.
Crews from Adams, Brown, Highland, Jackson, Pike, Ross and Scioto counties have been working during the overnight hours to patrol and treat routes as needed for the varying winter conditions. Currently, most of the district's crews are reporting the pavement to be wet; however, periods of rain and freezing rain are causing roadways to be slick and possibly icy.
ODOT reminds motorists of the need for additional caution at all times. Routes that are clear and wet will be slick, and black ice can form quickly and without warning. Drivers need to allow additional travel time, and they need to pay heed when traveling over bridges and overpasses, which have colder surface temperatures and freeze more quickly.
