Temporary Closure Slated For U.S. 52
Motorists should be prepared for long periods of delay
Chillicothe - U.S. Route 52 in Brown and Clermont counties will be closed for intermittent periods of time one day this weekend as crews transport a transformer from Ohio to Kentucky.
On Saturday, March 28, crews from Edwards Moving and Rigging of Shelbyville, Ky., will transport an electrical transformer from the W.C. Beckjord Station (Duke Energy) in New Richmond, Ohio, to a power plant in Kentucky.
The route will be closed in a rolling operation beginning at any time after 8 a.m. and continuing throughout much of the day. The move will be contingent upon the weather, and the periods of closure will be dependent upon the company's ability to facilitate the overall operation.
As part of this move, the Red Oak Bridge, located just west of the U.S. 52 junction with U.S. 62/U.S. 68 in Ripley, will be closed for approximately 30 minutes following the move in order for ODOT officials to inspect the structure.
The move is being coordinated in conjunction with area law enforcement agencies, which will be assisting with traffic control. And while there will be no posted detour, motorists should be prepared for long periods of delay and should seek alternate routes or plan their routes and travel times accordingly.
