Open House Set To Discuss Scioto-823 Blasting Operations
Chillicothe (Saturday, August 8, 2015) – A public meeting will be held this week to address blasting operations for the Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway project in Scioto County.
Representatives from the Portsmouth Joint Venture, the Portsmouth Gateway Group and the Ohio Department of Transportation will hold an open-house meeting Wednesday, August 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. to discuss blasting operations that will take place during certain phases of construction for the new state Route 823.
The meeting has been scheduled to outline operations and answer questions for residents who live adjacent to the initial blasting area, which is chiefly between Shumway Hollow and Fairgrounds roads.
In recent weeks, representatives from Sauls Seismic, LLC have been conducting pre-blast surveys with property owners who live in the general area where construction is under way. Sauls Seismic is a consulting firm which specializes in engineering and geological services to ensure compliance and performance relevant to blasting activities during construction projects.
The meeting will be held at ODOT’s project field office, which is located at 4301-A Lucasville Minford Road, Minford. Representatives from the Portsmouth JV and Senex Blasting will conduct a brief presentation at the start of the meeting, and this will be followed by an open house for residents to ask questions and meet one on one with the construction team.
