Operations To Begin For Bridge Replacements On Adams-136, 137
Restrictions Slated For Monday, June 13
Chillicothe (Tuesday, June 7, 2016) – A pair of bridge replacement projects will begin on state routes 136 and 137 in Adams County, with restrictions going into effect next week.
On Monday, June 13, S.R. 136 will be closed at its junction with Township Road 270 (Daniel Road), approximately one-half mile south of the Highland County line, for a bridge replacement project. Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be replacing the existing corrugated, metal arch culvert over a tributary of Little West Fork Ohio Brush Creek with a pre-cast, concrete box culvert.
The route will be closed for up to 45 days, and while it is closed, traffic will be detoured by way of S.R. 32 and U.S. 62.
Coopers Excavating was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $303,252 to replace the bridge, and all work is anticipated to be completed by late summer.
In a separate project, crews from Distel Construction, Inc. will begin preliminary operations to replace a bridge located at the 0.32-mile marker and situated over Eastland Run on S.R. 137. The existing structure, which is located between S.R. 136 and T.R. 34 (Paint Road) at Cherry Fork, is a corrugated aluminum pipe, and it will be replaced with a pre-cast, concrete box culvert.
Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, June 13, and although S.R. 137 will be subject to a 45-day closure, traffic will be maintained by flaggers and/or temporary signals during the initial phase of construction. A date to close the route has yet to be determined; however, when the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 136, S.R. 32 and S.R. 247.
Distel Construction was awarded a contract for $249,845 to replace the bridge, and this project is scheduled to be completed by late summer as well.
